    Xbox One S Console

Question: Xbox One S Console – Does it improve picture quality in games compared to original Xbox one? And does it support 4K gaming?

This is the die shrunk version of the launch console that successful systems always get. For games it’s basically identical to the launch unit, although it does support HDR and the GPU is 10% faster.

It adds a 4K blue ray drive for movies and support for 4K streaming video content.

The upgraded version is called the Xbox One X, and is a massive upgrade over the base unit. Red Dead Redemption 2 that just came out literally runs 6.2x higher resolution as a example.

This still runs the whole One library though, as well as tons of original and 360 games too (not all of them-yet at least-but hundreds). So it’s still a great system if you can’t get the X.

Xbox One S consoles do not render games in 4K resolution. Blu-ray playback and supported streaming apps will be output at full 4K resolution.
